Who knew a borrowed camera could lead to living the good life!
I now travel the world capturing the sparks that first inspired my couples to say 'I do!'
In this video tutorial, I share a behind the scenes look into my process for shooting & styling wedding invitation flat lays! This is one of my favorite wedding details to capture, and together, we’ll style 3 unique invitation suites. (Big thanks to She Paperie for providing the gorgeous invites featured!)
To ensure you have everything you need for great photos, request two copies of the full invitation suite. This allows you to feature any elements that are on printed both front and back.
I also like to reach out to the wedding planner, couple or florist to request some extra floral buds and greenery that match the brides bouquet or centerpieces. This provides a beautiful styling element, while also making the details cohesive from beginning of the day to end!
In tutorial video I showcase two different methods I use for styling wedding invitation flat lays: Grid-based vs Organic!
Grid-based flat lays are more structured and are a beautiful way to showcase all the elements in an invitation suite. This allows the viewer to clearly see each detail of the design.
Organic flat lays appear less structured, yet should still be styled purposefully in order to have a nice balance. One main piece is highlighted (often the main invite). The composition and flow helps moves the viewers eye intentionally through the frame.
If there’s time I like to photograph the invitation suite in both grid and organic styles. I’ll also play with cropping in tighter and at different angles to get a variety of images showcasing different pieces in the suite.
