Who knew a borrowed camera could lead to living the good life!
I now travel the world capturing the sparks that first inspired my couples to say 'I do!'
Do you dream of beautiful, natural light and airy photography that your clients are willing to pay a premium for and editors are dying to publish? Of course you do! But how do you accomplish this?
The Light and Airy Style is my VIBE! I love how this style of photography can capture the beauty of a subject while keeping the photo clean, unique, and expensive looking all at the same time.
Once you knows the areas to focus on, this style of photography will become a piece of cake- a light and airy one at that 😉
In this video, I share 3 key areas to focus on that can help you to master this popular style of photography.
Many times, photographers focus on the edit of a photo before the shot itself. No amount of editing or presets will be able to fix a poorly shot photo. Your edits will turn out inconsistent and fail to live up to your expectations. The key to shooting for the edit is to master natural light photography.
Making this a priority will help you to learn how to flatter your subjects, control the focus of the image, as well as allowing you to create beautiful photography regardless of the time of day or lighting.
Remember – the magic starts in camera.
The second key to shooting light and airy photography is to intentionally design your images. This also ties into shooting for the edit. When you are photographing your subject, the goal is for you as a photographer to disappear from the image. This will allow the subject to take center stage and really become the focus of the image.
Another big tip I have would be to learn visual hierarchy and composition besides the rule of thirds. The rule of thirds is such a great starting point, but many people stop there- but not us. Going past this basic point will elevate your images to a whole new level.
I recommend going and getting outside inspiration as well. Go to a museum or art exhibit and study how these masterful painters use their own techniques to catch people’s eye and draw their attention exactly where they want it.
As previously mentioned, no amount of editing will be able to fix an image. Becoming proficient in editing will help your edits to become faster, better, and enhance your image with ease. Presets can speed up your editing, but you should know more than just the fundamentals of lightroom.
A great tool I recommend mastering is the curves tool in lightroom. Although this tool may seem daunting, mastering it will help you to control the tonal ranges of your image. I actually have an entire YouTube video dedicated to explaining how curves works in a simple way and I think you’ll end up falling in love with this tool as much as I do.
